The MPI strike, which has lasted greater than two months, will proceed after the union representing workers rejected a proposal from the employer on Monday.
In response to union president Kyle Ross, MGEU members voted “overwhelmingly” to reject the provide.
“Our members have spoken and after 9 weeks on the picket line, they stand steadfast of their struggle for equity,” Ross stated.
The strike has been happening since August 28 and the union is asking MPI to return to the negotiating desk as quickly as potential. In the meantime, picketing will resume on Tuesday.
“There was a disconnect between the brand new administration’s expressions of help for our members and what we noticed from the employer on the bargaining desk,” Ross stated.
